Another update

Our new church meetinghouse is moving right on along. It is going up, up, up.........It is hard to maintain my excitement.
so, here are the latest and greatest.
The actual roofing boards are on and the temporary center support has been replaced with the permanent spanning support joists. (How's that for building lingo? actually, I'm guessing on the correct terminology.....LOL)

More to come........................

Just a little change

I should have titled my blog something other than what I first did. I do not in anyway express any opinions, views, beliefs, statements, declarations, policies or anything OTHER than my own. I do not make representations for anyone or any entity OTHER THAN MYSELF. So....with that being said, my blog is back up, but it is to write, photograph and represent what I see and what I feel, see or do..........

In the lovely coastal town of Rockport, Texas, there is continuous building going on and one particular spot that I am interested in NOW has a roof! Yeah! The center temporary supports for the main meeting room has now been removed and the joints have been put in to support the span of the room. It is beginning to look a lot like....................................................no, not Christmas.....a meetinghouse! And we should definitely be in it well before Christmas.
Pictures later.................

Relief Society Bash O the Bay 2012

The famous Bash 'o the Bay or "Dock of the Bay" annual Relief Society meeting was held today in Port Aransas @ the Haley's beautiful home on the canal. Fun was had by all. Great fun making the crafts that our wonderful Alberta prepared for us (cute hats, huh?)....and the FOOD....need I say more?
The fishing contest was held and I am proud to say that I won! Coming in second was Traci, then Alberta and Pat. We had several that had NEVER fished before and we were so proud for them to actually catch a fish!!! WOOHOO!! Like I say, I prefer "catching" to fishing any day, otherwise, I'd just as soon be taking the pictures.
Thanks so much to all of the ladies that participated. Very special thanks to Niki for providing the gracious
home and the dock... AND the cooking of the "dogs". Many many thanks to everyone who brought goodies to eat. A very special thanks to the priesthood who either chauffeured, chaperoned, baited hooks, took fish off lines, took pictures or just gave us pure moral support. I APPRECIATE IT.

Please feel free to make comments after each blog so that I know what is needed or missed. Keep on coming back as I add new blogs. Some will be interspersed back some for different dates so that I can keep it chronological., I believe on the right hand side of the blog each blog is titled and dated. Please become a follower and that way you should be notified each time there is an update.

Can you say "Lumpias"?  We had a fabulous time learning how to make
these delicious spring rolls. Kelli Pape and Laurie reed's mom, Carolyn
taught the RS women how to make these during our monthly enrichment night.
Seems like a lot of work, but very much so worth it!
We had a great turnout. Twenty-three women, three children and  three men
were there to taste the treats.
Alberta brought some rice and the ladies turned i into scrumptious pork
fried rice. Carolyn also made some homemade sweet and sour sauce.
the recipe for the Lumpias is below.

LUMPIAS
2 cups of cooked finely chopped chicken
1 head of green cabbage finely chopped
2 bunches of green onions, small dices
6 stalks of celery, small dices
2 pkg of wrappers (s/b about 60)
salt & pepper to taste
couple of dashes of soy sauce

Take each wrapper and place about a tablespoon of mixture and roll up
Be sure to moisten the end as you wrap so that it will stay closed during
frying. Works best if fried in peanut oil @ 350 degrees. Brown lightly on
each side and then place on paper towels to absorb the excess oil.

Serve with sweet & sour sauce
6 tbsp of sugar
2 tbsp of corn starch
Combine & add
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup of water
Bring to a boil while stirring and add a drop or two of red food coloring
to desired
color.

Happy cooking and thanks so much to Carolyn, Kelli & Laurie.
Fun was had by all. The noise level was pretty high, but then so was the
enjoyment. Had a great time.

We made the news!

Probably a little redundant from the previous post, but to see it in news print is always good. The community now knows of our presence in the area and from past experiences, WE WILL GROW!!!!! So, they are doing more than just turning the dirt in the picture above. The seeds are continually sprouting. Now we need to water, nurture and help everything along.
