We made the news!

Probably a little redundant from the previous post, but to see it in news print is always good. The community now knows of our presence in the area and from past experiences, WE WILL GROW!!!!! So, they are doing more than just turning the dirt in the picture above. The seeds are continually sprouting. Now we need to water, nurture and help everything along.

Annual Humanitarian project

The wonderful little branch that I am a proud member of has been having an annual garage sale for the past 3 years and with the proceeds, we purchase items for Hygiene kits and out them together so tht they can be distributed by our Church headquarters wherever they are needed. This year, we again exceeded our previous year. YEA!!!! Even after the increase in cost of the items from where we had previously purchased them. I did a little sleuthing and found some very good bargains so that the number of kits would increase and with the Lord's help, WE DID IT.

Many thanks to all of the hands that participated in it.

The start of 2012

In the beginning........of the year 2012 for the Rockport Branch of the Corpus Christi Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it was announced that the building of our new chapel would begin. WOW.
What a start for the year!
Artist rendition of new building for the Rockport meetinghouse.

Groundbreaking January 13, 2012 by Branch President Paul Campbell,
Stake President Counselor Tommy Magill, Stake President Bryan Brown, Stake Counselor Paul Osborne and a city councilwoman digging their shovels in. Yahoo. Progress will be posted as we build.

Everyone wanted to get in on the dirt turning. It was an exciting day for our little branch. Many attended the groundbreaking. We had all of our "Summer travelers" or as some would say - "Winter Texans" here for the celebration. It was a cold, but joyous day for our little place in the sun on the Gulf coast of  South Texas.

Another good way to start the year off right is a baptism. Julia Henderson was baptized by her grandfather who flew in just for the wonderful opportunity to perform this very special ordinance.
